Perry has written over 23 novels, including eight in his ever popular Jane Whitefield series. Jane Whitefield is a clever and tough Native American woman who calls herself a "guide." She helps people who are in potentially life-threatening situations and uses her extensive resources to lead them "out of the world," to help them extricate themselves from their problems and assists them with documentation and credentials so they can start new lives.
SILENCE (2007) features retired LAPD detective P.I. Jack Till, who has also been known to help people disappear. P.I. fans raved about NIGHTLIFE (2006), featuring Portland private eye Joe Pitt and police detective Catherine Hobbes, and DEATH BENEFITS (2001), which pairs rookie insurance claims data analyst Johnny Walker with grizzled freelance investigator Max Spillman.
He has also penned a couple of books in Clive Cussler's Fargo Series, THE TOMBS and THE MAYAN SECRETS.
Perry was born in Tonawanda, New York in 1947. He received a B.A. from Cornell University in 1969 and a Ph.D. in English from the University of Rochester in 1974. He won an Edgar Award for Best First Novel (The Butcher's Boy) in 1983, a Gumshoe Award for Best Mystery (Pursuit) in 2002, and a Barry Award for Best Thriller (The Informant) in 2012.
His 24th novel, The Old Man, was published January 2017.
